1. Go to Start > Run

2. Type command and press [Enter]

3. Type ipconfig /all in the command prompt window and press [Enter]

4. You can view the physical access address in the information displayed.

How To Setup Wireless MAC Filtering on Linksys Routers

This article will show you how to setup Wireless MAC Filter feature in order to enable wireless access for authorized computers located on your home/office network. This article is designed for CCNA students, network engineers, and anyone looking to block wireless access for unwanted wireless devices using the Linksys wireless router.

The Linksys router offers a couple of security tools in order to secure your wireless network. One of these tools is the Wireless MAC Filter feature. This feature allows you to block unwanted computers by adding their MAC addresses to the router’s filter MAC Address list. In addition, you can block unwanted computers by adding the MAC addresses of your network wireless devices to the router’s permit MAC Address list. .

Follow these instructions in order to restrict access to your wireless network:

Step 1: Open your favorite web browser application, and enter the IP address 192.168.1.1 in the address field. Then press Enter.

Step 2: In the authentication dialog box, enter the administrator’s username and password. The default values are admin/admin for the username/password. However, on some Linksys router platforms, the default value for the username is the blank and for the password is admin.

Step 3: Open the Wireless tab.

Step 4: Click Wireless Access.

Step 5: Click Restrict Access in order to restrict access to your wireless network. Otherwise, click. Allow All.

Step 6: Click Prevent in order to block access for computers listed in MAC Address Filter list. Otherwise, click Permit only.

Step 7: Click Edit MAC Address Access List.

Step 8: Enter the MAC address of the concerned computers in the format of xxxxxxxxxxxx or xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx, where X is in the range of 0-9 or A-F.

Step 9: Click Save Settings and close the window.
